About adidas

adidas began its successful journey in the sportswear industry in Herzogenaurach, Germany, founded by brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler after the former returned from World War I. In July 1924, they founded the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Its illustrious career began in the field of athletics, where Adi innovated in the manufacture of canvas and rubber spikes. Confident in the effectiveness of his idea, in 1936 he convinced American sprinter Jesse Owens to use his handmade spikes at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Owens' four gold medals made these original adidas spikes known to track athletes and became the company's first best seller. In 1947, the brothers went their separate ways and Adolf founded adidas. The company took off in the 1970s, when it launched the first Stan Smith, a pair inspired by the famous tennis player of the same name, and later the first Superstar basketball shoe worn by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with great success. In the running sector, adidas stood out with its Energy-boost sole and was inspired by ocean protection in the design of its running shoes from 2016 onwards. Today, technologies such as adidas EnergyRods and Lightstrike make its shoes the protagonists of top endurance events such as the Boston and Berlin marathons, with top runners choosing them as their ally on the most demanding routes.
