About Nike
The history of Nike goes back to 1964, when Phil Knight, a track and field athlete, and his coach, Bill Bowerman, founded Blue Ribbon Sports with the goal of importing affordable athletic shoes from Japan. In 1971, they decided to rename the company Nike, inspired by the Greek goddess of victory, and introduced the famous "Swoosh" logo, designed by Carolyn Davidson. Nike quickly became known for its innovative and quality solutions in sports equipment, introducing its first air-soled shoe in 1978. In the 1980s, it took off with the Air Jordan line, thanks to a partnership with legendary basketball player Michael Jordan.
